Player Code of Conduct
Earning a spot on the roster for the Lake Forest Hockey Club, (“Scouts Hockey”), is both an honor and privilege which carries a responsibility to your team, Club and community. Scouts Hockey players are expected to always represent the Club and themselves according to the highest standards. Players will abide by the following Code of Conduct:
- Respect your coaches, your teammates, your parents, opponents, and officials.
- Players will be on time and ready to play for all practices, games and off-ice training. Absences or late arrivals will be reported to the coaching staff and may affect playing time.
- Players will respect the rights and property of others, including those of their teammates.
- Players will refrain from using profanity or any abusive language on the bench, in the rink, or at any team function.
- Players will respect and not deface or otherwise damage any practice, game or off ice facility. Players will respect all facility staff and neighbors and abide by the rules of the facility.
- Players will promote teamwork and not criticize or make negative comments about other players. Any form of bullying of another player is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
- No bullying, hazing, harassment, discrimination, fighting or locker boxing will be tolerated.
- Players will respect game officials and accept their decisions without question - profanity, gestures, or negative or derogatory comments toward officials shall not be permitted. Anyone who receives a penalty will skate directly to the penalty box. The coaching staff will handle all matters pertaining to officiating.
- Players will not use or be in the possession of any drugs, alcohol or other illegal substances.
- Players will not use or be in the possession of any tobacco or vaporizing products.
- Players will always copy a parent (or guardian) or another coach when emailing or texting a coach.
- Players will be respectful with use of social media. Players will not post, text, message, or email derogatory, hateful, vengeful, or other grossly disrespectful information about any coach, teammate, parent, opponent, official, or LFHC member.
- The use of a mobile device’s recording capabilities in the locker rooms is not permitted. (It may be acceptable to take photographs or recordings in a locker room in such unique circumstances as a victory celebration, team party, etc., where all persons in the locker room are appropriately dressed and have been advised that photographs or recordings are being taken.)
- Players will maintain their equipment and ensure it is in good working order and safe.
- The locker room is a safe space and any violations to the Code of Conduct, poor behavior or roughhousing will result in the loss of locker room privileges.
- Players will follow all rules of AHAI and USAHockey.
- Players will advocate for themselves and not rely on their parents to do so. If they have a question or would like to talk about something, they will go to the appropriate coach directly,
Failure to follow the above Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from Scouts Hockey.
